   Soft natural fabrics, fine cottons and silks - made in Canada! are my first choice for this collection ... with designs that will not only flow softly, but will also flatter the feminine beauty of mature women every where.

ALMOST TO THE END OF PROM & GRADUATION SEASON!

Well, it's been a busy couple of months altering last minute prom and grad dresses and gowns.  The colours have been delicious!  Lively Lime, Pomegranate Pink, Shimmery Silver, Glorious Golden - just to name a few.  Chiffon has dominated the fashion trend this year, although satin has maintained it's position as a glamour gown extravaganza.  

I am still on full tilt until the end of July, with weddings now being booked for September and October.

Shoe styles have been most interesting ... some complimenting the gown ... some basic white and looking fabulous!  Most of the heels were high with some toe lifts, and several wedge style heels were a great option as well.

Whatever the choice of fabric, colour and accessories, one thing is certain ... there will be beautifully dressed gals at this year's galas!!

FREEZING TO CHILLY - TRANSITION INTO SPRING!

There are still a few snowflakes dancing outside ... soon to become cooler temperatures while tempting Spring to hasten along!  Now is the time to think of lighter jackets and capes!

IDES OF MARCH - SPRING SIGNS - YOUR WARDROBE AND HATS!

Once upon a time, the Ides of March was not only known as a day of changes, but a very long time ago,  it marked the beginning of the calendar!  I predict, this year it will mark the beginning of the signs of spring!  I've already heard the spring trilling and chirping of little beaks, and watched as a couple of flocks of ducks came our way!  So - I am reading the 'signs' positively!

What will spring add to your wardrobe?  Perhaps some tailoring on a suit to freshen up it's 'fit'?  Alterations to skirt lengths?  Or repairs to the missing buttons, broken zippers or seams that need to be attended to?

A Time for Leprechauns, 4 Leaf Clover and A Splash of Green!

T'is a beautiful thing, the colour green - it brings harmony and balance to our mental, emotional and physical energies!  

It revitalizes us when we are physically, mentally or emotionally exhausted!  So when planning your spring wardrobe, be sure to add a refreshing splash of green!

When choosing a shade of green for your wardrobe, here are some interpretations of how the different shades can be used effectively ... 
                            

 Pale green: As the color of new growth on plants, it indicates immaturity, youthfulness and inexperience. It allows us to see things from a new perspective, to make a fresh start.

Emerald green: This is an inspiring and uplifting color suggesting abundance and wealth in all its forms, from material well being, to emotional well being to creative ideas.

Jade green: The color of trust and confidentiality, tact and diplomacy, jade green indicates a generosity of spirit, giving without expecting anything in return. It increases worldly wisdom and understanding, assisting in the search for enlightenment.

Lime green: Lime green inspires youthfulness, naivety and playfulness; it is liked the most by younger people. It creates a feeling of anticipation, and helps to clear the mind of negativity.

Dark green: There is a degree of resentment in dark green. Often used by wealthy businessmen, ambitious and always striving for more wealth, dark green signifies greed and selfish desire.

Aqua: Aqua calms the spirit, offering protection and healing for the emotions.

Olive green: Although the traditional color for peace, 'offering an olive branch', the color olive suggests deceit and treachery, blaming others for its problems. However there is also a strength of character with it that can overcome adversity to develop an understanding and caring of the feelings of others.

Yellow green: This color green suggests cowardice, conflict and fear.

Grass green: Grass green is the color of money. It is self-confident and secure, natural and healthy, occurring in abundance in nature.

REMEMBER:  GREEN IS THE ANTICIPATION OF THINGS TO COME!   SO PUT SOME ADVENTURE IN YOUR WARDROBE AS YOU STEP INTO SPRING!

This Valentine's Day ... whether you are going someplace extra special ... dinner with your 

sweetie at your favorite restaurant ... or just a casual night out ... let your imagination wander 

with some bling to your accessories!  Let your heart take flight and have some fun!

CUPID'S ARROW TAKES FLIGHT SOON!

Well, it's a sure fact, that the groundhog is highly over rated!  I don't think anyone can expect winter to end before March 15th - really!  HOWEVER ... I do think we're going to have an early spring ... our patience (or lack thereof)  through this winter's climatic reality check - yep, we live in Canada, all right!

   So time for a heart check!  Valentine's is a wonderful time to plan a dinner or evening out!  Enjoy the frivolity of the decorations and enlightened mood!  Pay special attention to wearing something that makes you feel good ... a little more on the romantic side perhaps, a splash of red with a scarf or accessories will help to get that spark going!  Most importantly, do something special for YOU!  Raise the bar for treating yourself, feeling better, looking good ... taking the time to reassure yourself that you are special, too!!

FROM WHENCE COMES THE GROUNDHOG??

In another 7 days, we'll know the groundhog's prediction for spring!  With all the freezing temps and snowy blizzards, that little critter will have to do some serious digging to find his way to the top of his snow castle!

Last year was quite the transitional period - in fact, I'm still trying to locate the last of some missing supplies from the move!!

This year promises some interesting chain of events ... so, stop by the blog to see what's happening from a sewing point of view!!  As always, there is an eclectic mix of projects on the assembly line.
